Prophecies of Jesus Advent Calendar

Prophecies of Jesus

Advent Calendar

December 2007

When I was a working mother with young children, I never could quite find the time to do all the Christmas decorating that I wanted. My solution was to take one decoration or Christmas related item out each day during the season. The children looked forward to it so much that they spent much of the day planning which decoraton would come out. But the first thing of all to come out was always the Advent calendar and wreath, so that we could be ready for Advent.

Each day during the season, we read a verse, about the coming of the Messiah. Then one of the children opens the window on the Advent calendar. Since there are over 100 prophecies, we usually read our favorites. On Christmas week, we start the book of Luke's account of the events leading to Jesus's birth. And on Sundays in Advent, we light a candle on the wreath and play Christmas music during dinner. Dinners during Advent became special for all of us.

If you would like to try it yourself, I have listed some of the prophecies here in the calendar. Feel free to bookmark this page. Each day, read the related Bible verse. Some of them are printed for you here, but in the interests of space, not all are. On Sundays, light one candle for each Sunday in Advent.
